Cell proliferation is a series of processes in which cells divide through complex reactions such as DNA replication, RNA transcription, and protein synthesis in response to cycle-regulating factors. Cell proliferation is an important life feature of living organisms, and cell proliferation by division is also the basis for the growth, development, reproduction, and inheritance of living organisms. The assay of cell proliferation capacity is the most common method to assess cell activity, genotoxicity, and the effect of antitumor drugs, etc. It is widely used in brain oncology and brain tumor drug screening.
Cellular activity and proliferation assays include both direct assays of DNA synthesis in cells and assays of cellular metabolic activity.
