Learn MoreAvian Leukemia Virus (ALV) persists in commercial chickens worldwide despite mitigation efforts by breeding companies. ALV detection and management are crucial to curtailing its spread. Alfa Cytology offers assay development services for the detection of avian leukosis virus (ALV) in poultry. With our extensive experience, we have developed a wide range of assays to support the detection of ALV in various sample types. Our services are designed to provide accurate and reliable testing solutions that aid in the identification and control of this viral infection in poultry.
The absence of viable vaccines or pharmaceutical interventions to shield avian species from ALV infection, a menace that inflicts substantial financial ramifications upon the poultry industry, poses a formidable challenge. Mitigating ALV infection necessitates the implementation of measures such as the elimination of virus-infected chickens to curtail viral dissemination. Hence, there exists an imperative for the development of detection methodologies that are swift, sensitive, and cost-effective for the avian leukemia virus. Numerous approaches have been established to detect and diagnose ALV, encompassing virus isolation and characterization, pathological assessment, serological identification, and molecular biology-based detection techniques.

Alfa Cytology offers a variety of assays to monitor ALV using advanced biological technologies. These assays include enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), immunohistochemistry, and PCR-based molecular biology techniques.
Utilizing highly specific anti-capsid protein p27 monoclonal antibodies, we developed an immunofluorescence assay for the detection of ALV in tissues. This assay enables the detection and visualization of ALV proteins expressed within cells through an antigen-antibody reaction. By utilizing the IFA, we can accurately determine the subcellular localization of viral antigens, providing valuable insights into the distribution and presence of ALV within tissues.
Utilizing the specific protein p27, we provide specialized ELISA development services for the detection of ALV. The method targets ALV-expressed p27 and assesses ALV infection by detecting the amount of p27 in the sample to be tested through specific binding to p27.
Leveraging the specificity of nucleic acids and the rapid amplification capabilities of PCR, we specialize in developing advanced methods for the detection of ALV. Our PCR assays offer a combination of specificity, simplicity, and affordability, making them highly competitive molecular biology tools for ALV detection. We provide comprehensive development services for various PCR-based methods, offering customized solutions tailored to your specific needs. We offer development services for the following assays:
Technologies | Service Details |
Cross-priming amplification | We support the development of cross-priming amplification assays for the detection of ALV. Our designed multiple primers and probes amplify nucleotide sequences to detect ALV in various samples. |
Loop-mediated isothermal amplification | Utilizing targeted primer design to match the sequence of the ALV pol gene, we provide specialized development services for a loop-mediated isothermal amplification assay. This innovative assay enables the rapid and timely detection of common subpopulations of ALV. |
RT-PCR | We use the gp85 gene as a target for PCR and design primers specifically for RT-PCR to detect ALV-positive samples. To develop a cost-effective, sensitive, specific, and easy quantitative real-time PCR method, we recommend using SYBR Green I to detect ALV. |
Alfa Cytology offers comprehensive services for the development of detection for ALV. By utilizing our developed ALV detection methods, you can confidently and efficiently identify the presence of ALV, aiding in disease control, prevention, and research.
